School Council Elections-May 2022
This spring, our school community will decide who will help shape and direct local education for the next two years. We encourage parents and community members to discuss this opportunity to participate in local school governance. Having broad representation from the community is important. Our school needs a variety of voices speaking and ears listening at the table – all sharing a common interest in student learning and education. Nomination papers will be available at the school office, with the school Returning Officer and at Elections Yukon’s office in Whitehorse. Nominations open on Monday, April 11, all papers must be filed with the Returning Officer for our school no later than Thursday, April 21 at noon. To be eligible, candidates must be: A Canadian citizen; and At least 18 years of age; and Be qualified based on: o Being a resident in the attendance area for three months or more, and/or o Being a parent (or guardian) of a child who attends the school. For more information about the role the school council plays, you can contact the school council chair; review the Serving on a School Council in Yukon resource guide developed by the Association of Yukon School Councils, Boards & Committees; or contact the School Council Liaison, Lori Choquette (lori.choquette@yukon.ca).
